"if they are doing the machine work for free, and Nissan already has a set of 0.025" over bearings, why not go that route?" .025" over what initial tolerance. The .025 is a measurement of oversize based on what initial journal diameter? See what I'm saying? In other words, every journal on the crank would have to be at the same dimension to the .0000" Then you could line bore the main to account for the .025 and install the bearings. But because the crank has variations from journal to journal in the .0000 - .0003 range (which is why there are differing bearing grades) when you bore the main that's only half the sizing issue. That accounts for the outside of the bearing. You still have to size the inside of the bearing, the surface that rides against the crank. You have to account for the journal variances. Now if you can get the .025 over bearings in sizes such as .0250, .0251, .0252, .0253 etc. Then you'll be able to maintain OEM tolerances.
